Old Business given by
Mrs. Olberts:
A.) ANSAA accreditation
- We received a call last week that the board met and we are fully
accredited for another 7 years. There are recommendations (areas for
improvement over the next 7 years) and commendations (pat’s on the
back) given by the board.
A couple of the
recommendations mentioned are parent education programs and
diversity on the School Board and PTO. These and some of the other
items recommended are already in our future plans. Each fall, Mrs.
Olberts will send a report to tell the board how we are doing on
their recommendations.
One of the commendations
given by the board is that they were happy to see how well the
Parish and school work together.
B.) Secret Santa –
Thank you to all of the parents that sent money for the children to
shop at Secret Santa. It was a great success. We brought in
$2,724.50 and after expenses we made a profit of $2,148.13.
New Business given by
Mrs. Olberts:
-
Nominate PTO and
School Board Officers 2008-2009 – There are nomination slips
available at the meeting to nominate someone for the positions
opening on the School Board and PTO. Once the nominees agree
to be on the ballot, we will elect new officers and board
members.
-
International
Festival - It will be Sunday, April 27, 2008 and there has
been a time change due to the additional mass at 1:00. The new
time will be from 3:00p.m.-6:00pm. Some entertainment has
already signed up and we are hoping for more. In addition to
entertainment, we will eat, have a silent auction and a raffle
sponsored by the Knights of Columbus. We still need people to
sign up to bring food, so please turn in the forms stating
what you will bring. It will help the kitchen committee know
what additional items are still needed. If you are interested
in helping with the International Festival committee, the next
meeting will be April 1st at 6:00pm in the school
library.
Special Guest Speaker
– Linda Cullers: Unfortunately, there was a scheduling conflict
and Ms. Cullers was not able to make this meeting. She does plan to
attend the May meeting.
Principals Report –
Mrs. Olberts:
Spring break will soon
be here. Report cards will be sent home on March 17th and
teacher conferences will be held on the 18th and 19th
of March. Stanford testing will be the week of April 14th
– please make sure your children get plenty of rest and eat a good
breakfast. So far, we have had a wonderful year.
Our next PTO meeting
will be on May 6th at 6:30pm in the Parish Center and we
will discuss plans to purchase additional playground equipment. It
will need to be done in several phases and there will be copies of
the plans available to view at the meeting.
In addition, we will elect new officers for 2008-2009 PTO and our
guest speaker, Linda Cullers, will be here to discuss asthma.
