officers are as follows:

Privitera
Vice President – Clay Williams
Treasurer – Elaine Cunalata
Secretary – Deidra Blankenship
New School Board
Members are:

B.) International Festival – given by Mrs. Olberts – We had a
good turnout and did really well. We raised approximately $11,780.00
from the raffle, ticket sales, cash donations, International Queen
and the silent auction. This is great because we did not have
matching donations from Wal-Mart this year!
Lynn Givens –
International Festival Committee Chairperson – was very pleased
with class baskets. They started with a $20 input from the PTO, but
they all sold for more than $50 each!!
Please check the
school website for a list of sponsors and donors for this event.
There will be a rap
up meeting on May 7, 2008, to finish up and send thank you cards to
everyone that donated items.
Mrs. Olberts extended
a very big thank you to two of the committee members that attended
the meeting, Jean Swillum for her help with children and their
songs, and Holly Schieber for her help in the kitchen.
New Business given by
Mrs. Olberts:
-
Field Day
Volunteers – Field Day will be Friday, May 16th
with inflatable’s and Mrs. Olberts will be giving the kids
what they would like, one with water!! She recommends that
parents send along a towel with the child’s name on it along
with an extra set of clothes in case they get really wet.
The cost of Field
Day is $6.00 per person which includes the cost of the
inflatable rental, lunch, and tag day.
Parents are needed
to volunteer to help at the game booths. Last year there were
not enough helpers and if we are unable to get enough for this
year, we may have to get rid of some of the game booths. If you
can volunteer, please contact the office.
-
Drawing for $50.00
– Lee Clark won the $50.00 cash drawing.
-
Spending of PTO
Funds – Mrs. Olberts opened the floor to suggestions of how
to spend the remaining PTO funds. There are several items that
are on the Strategic Plan that they would like to implement,
but we currently do not have the funds to do one or more at
this time. Most of the items will cost at least $5,000. Some
of the items mentioned are:
-
Replacing the Bell
and Clock system in the school and Parish center
(Approximately $6,000).
-
Replacing the
carpet in the library, including the copy room, librarian’s
office, and back through the teachers lounge.
-
Playground
equipment. Hope to add equipment for the middle to upper
building grades.
David Henning
presented a motion that we hold on to our current funds and add them
to next years fund raising so we can possibly complete an item from
the Strategic Plan. The motion was 2nd by Clay Williams,
voted on and approved.
Principals Report – Mrs. Olberts:
Stanford Test results
are here. She was very happy with how the children scored. The tests
are available now in the office or they will be sent home with your
child’s report card at the end of the school year. She also
thanked the teachers for the great job in helping the children
achieve these scores.
It has been a great
year and she is looking forward to the next few weeks with so many
activities that are planned.
Special Guest Speaker
– Linda Cullers: Ms. Cullers had a slide show presentation on
asthma which gave parents as well as school personnel an idea of
symptoms to look for as well as action plans that should be put in
place to help asthmatic children.
Closing Prayer: Was
led by Mrs. Olberts.
Adjournment: The
meeting was adjourned by Mrs. Olberts.
The class with the
most parents in attendance was the 2nd grade and they
will win a Popsicle party.
Respectfully
submitted:
