The meeting was called to order by Peggy Cobb, PTO
President.
The opening prayer was lead by Mrs. Olberts.

PTO meeting. Motion to approve the minutes was presented by Holly
Schieber and 2nd by Johanna McCormick. The motion was
voted on and approved as is with no corrections.

Old Business:
A.) ANSAA - Mrs. Olberts discussed that the ANSAA
team visit will be December 2, 3, 4 & 5th. The
self-study was mailed to the team members last week. The parents are
welcome to look at the self-study at the office.
Mrs. Gray, Executive Director, came to the school
for a preliminary visit and she felt we were ready. There are a few
things that still need "tweaking" and some records need to
be updated.
There will be 5 team members that come to visit the
school.
Part of the expense we will incur is paying for a
hotel room for one of the out-of-town team members. They will be
staying at The Empress of Little Rock Bed and Breakfast.
The visit will begin with a tour of the facility and
dinner on Sunday evening with teachers, School Board, PTO Officers,
Father John and the Parish Council.
On Monday they will be watching arrival and
dismissal of students, along with visiting the classrooms.
Thank you to the Men’s Club of St. Theresa Parish
for putting up the fencing. They paid for the materials and gave up
their time for us. It looks great.
B.) Volunteer Sheets - Peggy Cobb reminded the
parents that we need the volunteer sheets filled out. If they had
not done so already, forms were available at the meeting.
C.) Autumn Fest – Mrs. Olberts thanked all of the
parents and room mothers that helped set-up, run and clean-up the
booths at Autumn Fest. Everyone had a good time and the church
raised close to $30,000 to help pay off the Parish Center this year.
D.) Secret Santa – Peggy Cobb thanked everyone for
all of the donations. On the day of the meeting, there was 1,384
total items donated that would sell for approximately $2,569.00. She
requested volunteers for set-up on Saturday, November 10th,
workers during the week, and to help take down on Thursday after the
sale ended or on Friday during the school hours.
New Business:
-
St. Nick Festival (Decorate) - Mrs. Olberts
– The St. Nick program will be held on Thursday, December 6th
in the Parish Center. There will not be a PTO meeting before
the program. The kids will need to be here at 6:30 p.m. Mrs.
Swillum suggested that more decorations be used this year.
Mrs. Loyd has the opportunity to get 2 trees and Mrs. Williams
volunteered the 2nd grade to decorate one.
Decorating will be set for Friday, November 30th at
the end of the school day and plan to keep the decorations up
for at least a week. Holly Schieber presented a motion that we
give an additional $200 maximum to buy additional decorations
for the St. Nick program. The motion was 2nd by
Donna Johnson; it was voted on and approved. Mrs. Roberson and
Mrs. Storey volunteered to buy more decorations.
-
License Plate Frames – Bettina Privitera –
We have sold 52 license plate frames so far and have made a
profit of $60 at this point. The frames are $5.00 each and we
will consider selling them at the St. Nick program.
-
International Festival – Mrs. Olberts – It
will be Sunday, April 27, 2008 and we will need volunteers to
get auction items and decorations. We will have a committee
for decorations this year for making or getting them and
setting up. Mrs. Olberts will check with the Knights of
Columbus in reference to possibly having a raffle as well.
Questions asked: David Henning requested that we
consider bringing back the Halloween carnival. He will approach the
Knights of Columbus to possibly sponsor.
Pastor’s Remarks: Father John was not available
for this meeting.
Principals Report – Mrs. Olberts: School year is
going well. We have a new family that joined this week which makes
our student count 195 students at this time. She also reminded
everyone of the ANSAA team visit and reiterated the importance of
it.
Closing Prayer: Was led by Mrs. Olberts.
Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned by Peggy
Cobb.
The class with the most parents in attendance was
the 6th grade and they won a Popsicle party.
The $50 cash drawing was won by Mrs. Williams.
Respectfully submitted:
